2. Greatest Extent -- So Loved that He gave
3. Greatest Number -- The World
4. Greatest Act -- He Gave
5. Greatest Gift --His One and Only Son
6. Greatest Invitation -- Whoever
7. Greatest Simplicity -- Belief
8. Greatest Deliverance -- Shall Not Perish
9. Greatest Certainty -- Have
10. Greatest Possession -- Eternal Life

MERRY CHRISTMAS AS WE WORSHIP THE ONE WHO GAVE HIS ALL!

Sunday, December 07, 2008

A friend of ours from college, Jim Grams wrote the Meditation of the Christmas Story. I love it! Consider!

“Mary asked the angel, “But how can I have a baby? I am a virgin.” “The Holy Spirit shall come upon you, and the power of God shall overshadow you; so the baby born to you will be utterly holy—the Son of God.” Luke 1:34-35

The unbelievable preposterous Christmas Story!

Just imagine…

A teenage virgin pregnant by the Holy Spirit.

A baby King born in a stable, to peasant parents.

Who could believe such a story?

Imagine again…

The birth wasn’t announced to the Roman Emperor.

Angels told some shepherds with their sheep.

And the shepherds believed.

Human wisdom can’t grasp His story…it just doesn’t make sense.

Could it be that’s what gives it validity?

Who would ever just “make up” such a story?

Why is it that some of the most brilliant minds in the world try to disprove it?

They write books and build arguments to prove Christ’s birth is legend.

For twenty centuries the Story has been attacked…and still today, they say it isn’t so. They want to prove that the Christmas Story is false.

They don’t want to see Nativities on street corners.

They don’t want schoolchildren singing O Little Town of Bethlehem.

They don’t want Christmas to be about Jesus!

But it’s too big to ignore, and too prosperous to ban.

So they just make it Santa’s Shopping Holiday.

Though scholars and lawyers say Christmas isn’t so…

Though schoolchildren can’t sing about His birth…

And though millions refuse to believe…

We will celebrate – We love Jesus – We believe!

“All right then, the Lord himself will choose the sign—a child shall be born to a virgin! And she shall call him Immanuel (meaning, “God with us”). Isaiah 7:14

He is with us…Our Savior, Our Lord and King!

Merry Christmas,

Sharon Lebsack
