WHAT SHOULD WE KNOW ABOUT HAPPINESS DURING TIMES LIKE THESE?

With the stats in our country continuing to "look bleak", many may have short-term happiness. Do we have to have everything perfect to have happiness? My answer is the outer person should not effect the inner person from happiness! The Word tells us the Joy of the Lord is Our Strength. Following are ten ways to lift your spirits:

1. Realize you cannot buy happiness.
2. Manage your Time. Happy people feel in control of their lives.
3. Act happy. Going through the motions can trigger the emotions.
4. Happy people are often absorbed in a challenging, but not overwhelming task.
5. Exercise
6. Sleep
7. Foster close relationships
8. Be helpful. Doing good makes you feel good.
9. Be grateful. Pause to think about what you have rather than what you don't.
10. Nurture your spirit:(my translation) pray, read the Word of God, and put it into practice.

We can and we will make it through these trying times, we know the end of the story! Time are tough, but we will make it with a few adjustments! Don't be fearful of change in your personal life.

Good post. Certainly relevant to the times. I was actually doing some thinking along these lines recently:

I was thinking about our economy and how the terrorists tried to take it down with 9/11. Their efforts don't compare to the job we have already done by buying what we can't afford and banks loaning to people who can't afford it.

It all comes down to matters of the heart - materialism and greed. There is a reason why "do not covet" is in the top ten list of great commandments. Just goes to show the rotten fruits that sin is guaranteed to produce. The laws of the Bible are as cetain and real as the law of gravity.

Just as we can experience the natural bearing rotten fruit of sin, we can also experience the natural bearing good fruit of righteousness. As much as sin will produce bad fruit, righteousness will produce the most delighful fruit. This helps us to stay focused on the laws of righteousness rather than the desires of the flesh. As we make righteous decisions and actions, we are guaranteed to produce good fruit.

I pray that our Country's leadership will be directed in the righteous steps of God as we attempt to climb out of this economical mess brought on by greed and materialism. And as we make our way out, I pray that the hearts of American's will change away from greed and materialism to the righteous heart of God.
