Encouraging Women Today

Tuesday, November 16, 2010

With Thanksgiving approaching, my thoughts have been turned to my blessings in life. This morning while reading God's Word I wondered what I can do today to spread the blessings around. Throughout God's Word we find "giving" to be a fulfillment for those who have found this SECRET action. "GIVE AND IT WILL BE GIVEN UNTO YOU", is not a theory, but a fact.

We all have our "wish lists" that have sometimes turned into lust and greed. So perhaps we are looking in the wrong places for that fulfillment. It has been proven by the world that material goods do not bring fulfillment. BUT what does bring fulfillment is sharing any blessing I can with my family, my neighbors, my friends and those in need. It doesn't matter how big, how small, how expensive, how inexpensive - just accept and use the "giving spirit" that Christ has placed in all of us.

I would like to suggest as the "Reason for the Season" approaches, that each one of you concentrate each day on GIVING a blessing to someone. Of course it cannot seem like a duty or it doesn't work. Pray as you start the day and as you approach life keep your eyes open for that ONE who needs a blessing. You be open to the Holy Spirit on what that blessing will be. I'm not even going to name blessings that you could give - YOU KNOCK, SEEK & ASK our Heavenly Father. Then just listen to His soft, gentle voice.

My mother taught me as a child by showing me how to "give". We were always finding someone who needed a blessing. I'm so thankful that she pulled me into the action of giving that she shared. I learned at a very early age how good it felt to "give". If you have children, NOW is the time to introduce them to this wonderful way to receive fulfillment. It's true, "it is better to give than to receive"! God's ways always work!

Happy Thanksgiving and may you be Blessed beyond measure today.

Love,
Sharon
